Christine, John, Linda and Neil have all completed the qualification process required under the new 2005 Licensing (Scotland) Act to obtain Personal Licenses. Shortly Ann will begin the process and when she has her license, we will have all our full-time staff with personal licenses as well as having put them through Hygene Certificate courses in recent months. It is our hope that we can keep our staff, including the owners, fully trained, and up to date with the latest legislation, so that customers receive the best service as well as the best food and drink when visiting the Halfway House.

The fund raising on Wednesday, 4 March was a great success with over £500 going to the charity. A raffle and a “B.R.” quiz helped with fund-raising plus a £1 from every pint of Steve Stewart’s new beer sold on the day. The railway companies were particularly generous in their donation of prizes for the quiz and raffle with three pairs of first class return tickets coming from Virgin, Cross Country and First ScotRail. The Italian restaurant, La Rusticana helped out with pizzas while our butcher, David Foreman donated one of his famous game pies to help the grey cells do their bit during the quiz. All in all a great day, which had begun with the first pint of Steve’s beer being pulled by Patrick Harvie, the Green Party M.S.P.
