Food
Food is a passion with our customers! Without food, you don’t enjoy your beer or your malt so we take food very seriously.
Every day, a range of freshly prepared special dishes is added to The Halfway House’s regular menu of traditional dishes which are listed below and are all on sale at really reasonable prices.
Christine and John live in the Scottish Borders and, for the most part, buy the food used in The Halfway House from suppliers in Berwickshire. The emphasis is very strongly on fresh produce and traditional recipes. Fish comes from John Collin at Eyemouth, potatoes and turnips from the Berwickshire farmers’ cooperative, game from the local supplier at Duns while haggis comes from Crombie of Edinburgh. The black boar sausages are produced by a local butcher from meat raised on a farm beside the sea at Coldingham in Berwickshire. Boar is relatively low in cholesterol and the meat content is around 80% in the sausages.
The regular menu at The Halfway House is:
| Homemade Soup with a roll and butter | £3.50 |
| Cullen Skink with Roll and Butter | £4.40 |
