Welcome!
Welcome to the website of The Halfway House, Edinburgh, one of Britain’s smallest pubs, the smallest pub in Edinburgh and a firm favourite with real ale enthusiasts from all over the world. Once again, in 2009, The Halfway House has been selected as Edinburgh Pub of the Year.
The Halfway House is tiny but offers you a warm welcome when you find it! It’s hidden away in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, up the steps of Fleshmarket Close, a few metres from Waverley Station or just down the steps from the Royal Mile.
Inside, you will find a regularly changing range of cask beers, malt whiskies and a super choice of home-cooked food with different special dishes on offer each day.
The pub is open daily from 11:00 (12:30 Sundays) and food is available from opening till just before closing time which is around midnight except fridays and saturdays when The Halfway House closes at 01:00.
The Halfway House has been owned by Christine and John Ward since 1991 and, with Linda, Kerry, Pauline, Ally, James and Ian, they will do their best to make your visit to the pub memorable for the best reasons.
